for those of you that i asked if you would kindly take in nellie, she ended up staying with me.  i talked for a long time with the woman that cared for all of my fuzzbutts when jerry and i were going thru our divorce.  she had told me that nellie wouldn't make it more than 6 months without me.  she'd be fine without other ferrets, but not without me.  well, today she decided she wanted to be with her friends.  she crossed the rainbow bridge.  i don't think i have ever cried so hard in my life.  she was a little drama queen when she went tho.  she would be so pittiful one minute and the next she'd be ok.  then she laid on her back and kicked her feet up straight in the air (like on cartoons when you tell a dog to play dead) and left me.  Cry  my mom came and got her this morning and burried her with all her friends (except sam and charlie; sam was given to a pet hospital here in michigan for students to learn more about adrenal and charlie went to an actual cemetary where her ashes were scattered in with the dirt, she was my first to go, and the vet suggested it)  my ferrets had their own room in my house.  this morning i just kept saying "the ferrets room" i can't call it anything else.  one thing is for sure, i am glad that i kept her until the end instead of rehoming her, i loved every minute i spent with her, and i'm pretty sure she liked all the attention.  thank you all, you all have been wonderful.   Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss of Nellie.  Yes, she certainly is with all her friends now - even reunited with all of The Travelers (Turbo, Nitro and Sammy Ray).   Cry   Cry   Cry  Cry

I am sorry little Nellie had to go although we know she had a big fan group just waiting at the Bridge for her. She is back with all her family and friends and has a heart's piece for her pillow. You made the right choice for her and for you....Still, this had to be a very hard thing for you. Hang in there and know she is well now.......Hugs

thank you all so much.  i was thinking the other day and i just want to share with you all...charlie-my first, little miss queenie, the shoe stealer; sam-my second, charlie's main squeeze, protector of all other ferrets, one heck of a biter if you weren't paying attention to him; lily and drifter-"the twins" both deaf with the lightning bolts on their foreheads, if lily were a person, i'm sure she would have been a ballerina, drifter more of a tom boy/klepto!  she loved mommy's shinny things; max-mommy's little man, he liked to cuddle and he also like to be sam's right hand/wing man!; nellie-my little princess/drama queen, she loved her max and she loved to rearrange her room!  the travelers-3 great little boys that will always be remembered by me as well balletcat =)  9 years of ferrets, and 9 ferrets in my life.  they were life changing and i will never forget them.  when i go, i wanna go across the rainbow bridge, they were the bestest friends anyone could have ever asked for.  i love them and will forever miss them........

I too feel the same way about all my ferrets, I don't care where my soul goes so long as it is with them in the end. Which is why I believe in the rainbow bridge, it must exist for us pet lovers. All my ferrets stole peices of my heart and it sounds as if yours did too as well. Little characters that you swear had human thoughts in their heads with some of the things they did. I've known all sorts of pets, but nothing steals the heart like a ferret. Mine broke my heart so hard when they left, one by one it felt like my heart was being shredded. Which is why I took a break from ferrets for a while, I let my heart heal, and soon I will find myself with more ferrets someday when the right one finds me. For I am ready, and yes my heart is very ready. It might be time to do the same for your heart, let it heal, and that calling will find you like it has me.

Nellie my dear may your journey over that bridge be safe and swift, may you be greeted by all of our ferrets since passed and all of your dear friends. Untill we all meet again, keep visiting our dreams often and warm our hearts with memories. Many hugs for your hurting heart, may it find peace in happy memories and heal again to be ready in the future for more ferrets. Much love and kindness, Norka.
