A couple of years ago when I got Shawni there was another little girl I just fell in love with, her name was Satin a tiny little solid black. She was adopted a couple of months later by another family Anyway my family wanted a young ferret so I brought home our little Shawni & have been thrilled with her. Well I decided to pop on my breeders site just for a peek and guess who is back MY little Satin!! I guess the families schedule changed and they no longer had the time to spend with her that she deserved so they brought her back to Sally. Guess who is now going to get her? You guessed it - ME!! She is at Shady Hollow Ferretry (check out her web page to see pictures). So within the next 3 weeks I will be making a road trip to Maryland to get my little girl.
We were going to start going back to 3 when Bear passes but fate would have me find Satin again so for a while we will be at 5 again. She is quite the little Diva, loves to follow you around, climb your legs & ride on your shoulders. She is quite content to sit on your lap & be fussed over. I can hardly wait. I will let you know all about her once we get her home.
She is a little older, 4 years going on 5 but Sally says she comes from a line that many have lived to 10 Hope that is what she decides to do. I am just busting at the seams to get her here. If the weather is good this weekend Sally may meet me in Breezewood so I can get her home, if not it will be 3 weeks before I can get with my sister for the 4 hour drive. Keeps your fingers crossed for good weather this weekend.

SHE'S HOME!!! We picked her up yesterday & she is everything I remember. She is just the sweetest little girl, just loves to be picked up and kissed.
We set her up in a playpen as she is a bit afraid of other ferrets. Introduced her to Rascal our big boy and all went well. Tails were a bit fluffed but no biting, we stayed close and if she went near his neck we just put our hands there and said no need for that. Alot of bum stiffing so hopefully she will be ok with him. Have not introduced any one else yet. We let her out to run around and it was so funny as she was completely puffed out looking much bigger then she is, but she does come when you call her name.
Only 1 miss on the litter box and that was right after we let her out of the cage. When we got her I put her in our cage and she went straight to the litter box & I checked this AM and all little poops are in the box. Such a good little girl.
We are going to continue calling her Satin, which is fine as she knows her name well. Last night she slept with me on the couch for a while which hasn't happened at my house since Toby our first boy. Hopefully she will continue to be a cuddle ferret as I am loving it. Today I will probably introduce Mitzy and Bear to her as they are both very sweet girls. Shawni on the other hand will get to meet her but I will probably hold them both for the sniffing as I have no doubt Shawni will go after her.
I can hardly believe after 2 years I finally have her home with us. I will keep you up on her progress.

Thinking good thoughts on introductions! A cuddle bug is a rare ferret indeed. She sounds like a gem! Using the litter box with success and being a cuddle bug! Can't wait to hear more good news.

So far so good, still can't let Shawni near without holding on to her or she will bite Satin. Others have done well, I just keep reminding them what good ferrets they are and no biting needed. I am sure if I was not right there Satin would try a bite them on the neck but she is doing good with the reminders. Little Bear just cried when we let her sniff Satin so we just moved her away quickly, not like she will ever have to interact with her so why stress my sweet little Bear. Satin is not to excited about the cats, they are just for hissing at right now. It was funny she was out yesterday & Patch walked towards her & she backed up right into Muffin who was watching the action. It is so funny how big they can make themselves when they puff up. I have had no poofs so we know she is not too stressed.
The great news is when I got home & really looked over the paperwork she was born 5/20/2006 therefore she is only going to be 4 in May. Sally had the date wrong on her cage marker. We were both very excited. She is quite the little cuddle bug and I am loving every minute of it.

Congratulations, albeit a little late! Hope Satin has continued to adjust and is loving her new ferrety family by now!

Well we are letting everyone together except HoneyBear. Shawni & Satin sometimes scuffle but nothing too bad. But both still have the scent glands so now I have 2 stinky butt ferrets if they have a tiff. Mitzy just stays out of everyones way, she is just so gentle and occasionally Shawni or Satin may push their weigh around. No one bothers much with Rascal except Mitzy she loves to play with him. So again so far so good.

Good to hear that they are all starting to get along together that you can have them all out together safely. Give them all smoochies and treats for learning other ferrets aren't bad! Especially my Honeybear, she deserves extra smoochies because she is herself... I have a weakness for oldsters. Glad to hear an update on how progress is going.
